LEAD: Hoffenheim forward Ibisevic close to Stuttgart move
Jan 25, 2012, 11:40 GMT
Frankfurt - Bosnia forward Vedad Ibisevic will join VfB Stuttgart from Bundesliga rivals Hoffenheim if he passes the mandatory medical, Stuttgart said on Wednesday.
'Pending the medical, the 27-year-old Bosnian international will sign a contract at VfB Stuttgart today (Wednesday),' Stuttgart said in a statement.
Local news reports said that Stuttgart will dish out 5.5 million euros (7.2 million dollars) for the 27-year-old and could officially present him later in the day.
Ibisevic came to Hoffenheim in 2007 and helped them into the top flight. He scored 18 goals in 17 games in the first half of the 2008-09 season when Hoffenheim had a stunning run atop the Bundesliga standings, but missed the second half of the campaign injured. He has 49 goals in 116 appearances for the club.
Hoffenheim are eighth in the league and Stuttgart 10th, both sides closer to the danger zone than the top tier.
