Ibisevic completes Stuttgart move from Hoffenheim
Jan 25, 2012, 12:30 GMT
Frankfurt - Bosnia forward Vedad Ibisevic on Wednesday signed a contract until 2016 at VfB Stuttgart in a move from Bundesliga rivals Hoffenheim.
Stuttgart said that Ibisevic, 27, put pen to paper after passing the mandatory medical and would train for the first time with his new club later in the day. Stuttgart reportedly paid a transfer fee of 5.5 million euros (7.2 million dollars).
'Stuttgart are a big club with a lot of potential. I want to do my share that we can move higher up again in the not too distant future;' Ibisevic said in the club statement.
Stuttgart sports director Fredi Bobic said that 'we wanted to bolster our attack and that's what we have done by signing Vedad Ibisevic.'
Ibisevic came to Hoffenheim in 2007 and helped them into the top flight. He scored 18 goals in 17 games in the first half of the 2008-09 season when Hoffenheim had a stunning run atop the Bundesliga standings, but missed the second half of the campaign injured. Overall, he had 43 goals in 92 Hoffenheim matches.
Hoffenheim are eighth in the league and Stuttgart 10th, both sides closer to the danger zone than the top tier.
