Langenfeld, Germany - Police in western Germany on Friday launched a murder inquiry into the death of a family of four whose apartment was engulfed in a fire.
The victims were a couple, aged 33 and 34, and their children, aged five and one, from the small town of Langenfeld.
'There are clear signs for us that indicate it might not have been a normal fire,' a police spokesman told dpa radio.
Police also said they had not established the exact cause of death.
