Police arrest man in German inquiry into neo-Nazi murders
Feb 1, 2012, 10:38 GMT
Berlin - German police investigating a neo-Nazi terrorist gang arrested a 31-year-old man Wednesday on accessory-to-murder charges, federal prosecutors in Karlsruhe said.
Germany has already detained the sole survivor of the three-person gang, Beate Zschaepe, 36.
Authorities said last week they were also holding four men suspected of being supporters or accessories to the self-styled National Socialist Underground which killed 10 people 2000-07.
The 31-year-old was detained in the western city of Dusseldorf on suspicion of being an accessory to six murders and one attempted murder.
The gang is believed to have killed eight ethnic Turkish shopkeepers, a Greek man and a policewoman. The crimes went unsolved until two of the gang died, apparently in a suicide pact, just before police closed in on them in November.
