Taxi driver sentenced to jail for imprisoning passenger in boot
Feb 3, 2012, 16:38 GMT
Hamburg - A 57-year-old German taxi driver was sentenced to jail Friday for locking a woman passenger in the boot of his car for about six hours following a dispute over the route he should take.
A court in the northern German city of Hamburg sentenced the man to three years and 10 months in jail for false imprisonment and assault against the woman, aged 32.
She told the court that during the time she was locked in the taxi boot, which occurred last September, she feared for her life and thought she would be raped or drowned at sea.
But handing down the judgement, the court said it was still unclear what the motive was for the taxi driver's action.
