Expensive Malaga crash to defeat in Granada
Feb 6, 2012, 22:33 GMT
Madrid - Malaga missed another good chance to move up the Spanish league table, crashing 2-1 on Monday at lowly Granada.
Malaga, who were the highest spenders in Spain last summer, dominated possession but were feeble and indecisive in both penalty areas.
Nigerian striker Odon Ighalo headed Granada into the lead in the 58th minute on a centre from Mikel Rico, only for Jose Rondon to quickly level for Malaga after a good move by Spain left-back Jordi Alba.
Inigo Lopez made it 2-1 for the hosts eight minutes from time, after Malaga keeper Willy Caballero had failed to hold a shot from Granada left-back Siquiera.
Malaga then had Argentine defender Martin Demichelis sent off for a second ugly foul.
The defeat leaves Malaga in eighth place with 28 points, well below the berths for the Champions and Europa leagues.
Granada, for their part, moved up to seventh from bottom with 25 points.
