Poland: Most key Euro 2012 projects completed
Feb 7, 2012, 18:56 GMT
Warsaw - Some 90 per cent of key projects needed to host Euro 2012 have been completed or are nearly ready for the football championships, the prime minister's office said Tuesday.
Some 75 out of 83 key investments, including stadiums, airports and highways, were ready or near completion by December, the premier's office said after a meeting with the Sports Ministry. The key investments are worth 95 billion zloty (30 billion dollars.)
But eighteen of the key projects would not be completely finished until after the tournament, which Poland is co-hosting this summer with Ukraine.
Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski was to visit Kiev on Wednesday for a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Konstantin Grishchenko on cooperation efforts during preparations for the championship.
The meeting was to discuss how Warsaw could ease the visa application process for Ukrainians traveling to Polish host cities.
Politics is also to be on the agenda, including Kiev's relations with the European Union and the case of jailed opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko.
