Sweden's Princess Victoria: king to take first baby photo
Feb 10, 2012, 10:45 GMT
Stockholm - The first official photo of the child that Swedish Crown Princess Victoria is pregnant with will be taken by her father, King Carl Gustaf, a Stockholm daily reported Friday.
'(My) father will likely take the first photo,' Victoria was quoted as telling Aftonbladet.
The princess and her husband Prince Daniel, 38, said the due date was soon, and could be late February or early March. 'It is close. You never know,' Victoria said.
The couple married in June 2010.
The 34-year-old princess still has some official engagements in her diary. The last prior to the expected delivery is a lunch on February 21 with Finland's outgoing president Tarja Halonen. 'If everything feels OK, that is the plan. But it is up to nature,' the princess said of her engagements.
Prince Daniel said he had tried to make sure that Victoria did not overexert herself, and said the prospect of being a father was 'exciting.'
Both he and Victoria said they hoped their privacy would be respected, and that they had received a lot of support from the king and Queen Silvia.
The princess said she was a little nervous, since 'I really don't know how you fully prepare to become a parent.'
The couple planned to spend their initial parental leave at their home at Haga Palace on the outskirts of Stockholm. The king and his three sisters spent their first years at Haga Palace.
