Report: Abetter in killing of Serb premier arrested in Spain
Feb 10, 2012, 13:55 GMT
Madrid/Belgrade - Spanish police have arrested four suspected Serbian criminals, including the man convicted of abetting the assassination nine years ago of prime minister Zoran Djindjic, Serbian media reported Friday.
Vladimir Milosavljevic was sentenced to 35 years in prison in 2007 for his role in the Djindjic killing, who was shot dead by a sniper in March 2003.
Spanish police did not name Milosavljevic but confirmed the arrest of another suspect, Luka Bojovic, who is wanted in Serbia on organized crime and murder charges.
Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic was expected to announce Milosavljevic's arrest in Belgrade later Friday.
Milisavljevic is one of Serbia's most wanted fugitives.
On top of the Djindjic verdict, in 2008 he was sentenced as a member of a powerful crime outfit, the so-called Zemun crime clan, to a total of 40 years for 18 murders, three kidnappings and two terrorist attacks.
The organized crime clan that Milosavljevic was a part of had been closely linked with rogue policemen and officials. Connections with politicians were also alleged, but never proven in court.
