Feuz wins downhill at 2014 Olympic course

Krasnaya Polyana, Russia - Beat Feuz of Switzerland won the World Cup downhill premiere on the Olympic course at Krasnaya Polyana near Sochi Saturday.
Feuz posted 2 minutes 14.10 seconds an an icy Rosa Khutor piste to celebrate his 25th birthday at the alpine skiing venue for the 2014 Sochi winter Games with his third win of the season.
Benjamin Thomsen of Canada was second, 0.27 seconds behind, with France's Adrien Theaux 0.59 seconds back in third place.
Feuz, who received the winning trophy from Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, told Germany's ARD television: 'I have given myself the best of birthday presents.'
Just off the podium was Bode Miller of the United States and Switzerland's Carlo Janka while Swiss team-mate and downhill World Cup leader Didier Cuche was out of the top 10 in 12th place.
Feuz, who also captured the downhill in Wengen, Switzerland on January 14, now has four career World Cup wins.
He moves to second on 893 points in the overall World Cup standings. Croatia's Ivica Kostelic leads on 942, while Marcel Hirscher of Austria is third on 825.
A men's super combined is scheduled at the venue Sunday.
