Ullrich also suspended for public races, says German cycling body

Berlin - Former Tour de France winner Jan Ullrich's doping ban also prohibits him from competing in public races, the German cycling federation (BDR) said on Monday.
BDR vice-president Udo Sprenger said in a statement that 'according to BDR anti-doping rules a ban also applies for non-licence holders and thus public races.
'So Ullrich is not eligible to compete in any public race authorised by the BDR.'
Ullrich was found guilty of blood doping last week by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in connection with the Spanish affair around doctor Eufemiano Fuentes and was banned for two years until August 2013.
The 1997 Tour champion Ullrich, who retired from professional cycling in 2007, planned to compete in a 2012 public race in Bielefeld and others in the United States, his manager was quoted as saying.
