Napoli beat Chievo, Roma stunned at Siena
By Alberto Cagliano Feb 13, 2012, 21:57 GMT
Rome - Napoli won 2-0 at home to Chievo Monday, advancing in the Serie A to within one point of Roma, who were stunned 1-0 at Siena.
Uruguayans Miguel Britos and Edinson Cavani secured the Naples side's win the first half, while a spot kick from Emanuele Calaio was enough for lowly Siena against the guests from the capital.
After 23 rounds of games, Roma sit 12 points from leaders AC Milan, and lag one behind fifth place, which grants the first of two Europa League berths.
Champions Milan on Saturday won 2-1 coming from behind at Udinese and lead on 47 points, one clear of Juventus, who have two games in hand.
In the Tuscany town of Siena, Roma obtained no goals from their first-half dominance and fell behind early in the second to a spot kick converted by Emanuele Calaio.
The hosts were careful in defence and twice came close with Mattia Destro and with his fellow striker Calaio, who early in the second half was flawless from the spot after the flooring of Destro.
A header from Britos and a spot kick converted by Cavani secured Napoli's win against visiting Chievo in the first half.
