Feb 14, 2012, 12:32 GMT
Berlin - A movie comprising 20 five-minute films on the uniqueness of Taiwan and screened at the Berlin Film Festival on Tuesday marks the rebound in the country's film business, award-winning Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao-Hsien said.
'The market has been coming up,' he said at a press conference in Berlin. 'It has been very difficult in the last few years.'
Hou Hsiao-Hsien oversaw the film project, called 10 + 10, which brought together 20 directors from Taiwan to present short films on different aspects of life in their nation.
The directors were from different age groups and focused on a range of themes, such as an actor waiting to make his debut on stage, a man lost in the countryside, and about the passing of traditions. They also employed different cinematic techniques, from thriller to comedy.
