Moscow - At least 20 people were injured in an explosion of a gas container in a cafe in the Russian city of Volgograd, according to the Russian news agency Interfax early Wednesday.
Six people were seriously injured. The cause of the explosion was believed to have been careless safety precautions, the report said.
Several apartments in the building, located in a city that was formerly known as Stalingrad, were severely damaged, a top local official, Vladimir Yefimov, was quoted as saying. A number of residents were evacuated to more secure shelter.
