Diarrhoea outbreak kills six children in southern Philippines
Nov 2, 2007, 10:07 GMT
Davao City, Philippines - A diarrhoea outbreak in a southern Philippine town has killed six children and downed 60 people, local officials said Friday.
The children, aged 4 to 6, died since Monday in Don Marcelino town in Davao Del Sur province, 960 kilometres south of Manila, Mayor John Johnson said.
Johnson said 60 villagers have also fallen ill.
He ordered the municipal health office to trace the source of the outbreak, which is suspected to have been caused by contaminated water, to prevent more residents from getting ill.
