Bad breath can be prevented by brushing the tongue
Dec 1, 2008, 2:08 GMT
Cologne, Germany - A Cologne-based dental health initiative recommends brushing the tongue as well as the teeth twice a day because bacteria, which cause bad breath, also collect on the tongue.
Scraping away the layer of bacteria can reduce the gases that result from decomposition partially remove the micro-organisms, the dental health initiative said.
The best way of brushing the tongue is to use a scraper, from the back of the tongue forward using light pressure while holding the tip of the tongue firm, possibly with the help of a wash cloth or teaspoon to press the tongue upward.
