Jordan reports new swine flu case, raising total to 13
Jun 21, 2009, 18:28 GMT
Amman - The Jordanian health authorities on Sunday announced the discovery of a new swine flu case that brought the total in the country to 13.
The 13th case was a 27-year-old Filipino woman who arrived in Jordan on Thursday from Manila aboard a Kuwait Airways flight, the Public Health Minister Nayef Fayez said in a statement.
All previous 12 swine flu cases discovered in Jordan involved Jordanians, Palestinians and an Iraqi who came from the United States.
In a related development, Fayez said at a press conference that the first two swine flu cases to be spotted by the country's health authorities last week were discharged from an Amman hospital earlier Sunday after they 'recovered completely' from the disease.
One of the two girls, a 16-year-old student who was identified as Karma, said that she contracted the disease during her attendance along with 300 other Arab students at a scouting camp in the US earlier this month.
