Jun 29, 2009, 5:40 GMT
Bangkok - A Thai navy cadet died of H1N1-related symptoms Monday, bringing Thailand's death toll from the virus up to three out of 1,330 reported cases.
The navy cadet was admitted to Somdej Phranangjao Sirikit Hospital in Chonburi province on June 22 suffering from pneumonia, having tested positive for the H1N1 virus, also called swine flu.
'His condition deteriorated rapidly Sunday and he died of lung congestion Monday,' the hospital's director Surapon Chatwanit said.
It was Thailand's third known H1N1 related-death. A 40-year-old woman died on June 22 and a 42-year-old man died Saturday of H1N1-related complications.
As of Monday, Thailand had a total of 1,330 H1N1 cases, of whom 1,309 had fully recovered, according to the Public Health Ministry.
