Jul 7, 2009, 6:50 GMT
Bangkok - Thailand's swine-flu death toll reached nine Tuesday with the latest victims being a 58-year-old man and an 8-year-old girl, health officials said.
The man was suffering from liver failure and died Monday night after testing positive for the H1N1 strain of the flu virus as did the girl, who had leukemia and died Tuesday, Deputy Health Minister Manit Napamornbodi said.
Thailand's first H1N1 death was recorded on June 22. Most of the country's H1N1 victims have been people suffering from other diseases who were then weakened by swine flu.
Thailand has confirmed 2,428 H1N1 infections so far. The vast majority have recovered.
