Malaysia reports second swine-flu death

Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia has recorded its second fatal case of swine flu with the death of a 46-year-old man, official news reports said Monday.
The local man, who was diagnosed with the H1N1 virus on July 16, died Sunday at a hospital in the central state of Selangor, the Bernama news agency said.
The victim was working in Belgium, and had returned to Malaysia in early July for a holiday, said Health Director Mohamad Ismail Merican.
He sought treatment at a local hospital two weeks after returning home, after complaining of a persisting sore throat, he said.
'The cause of death has been recorded as chronic pneumonia with breathing complications and septicaemic shock, as well as kidney failure,' Mohamad Ismail was quoted as saying.
Malaysia reported its first swine flu-related death on July 23 when an Indonesian student died from cardiac arrest after contracting the virus.
The country has recorded more than 1,100 swine-flu infections since reporting its first case on May 15.
As of Monday, the H1N1 virus has infected 159,223 people globally, with 987 fatalities.
