Swine flu deaths in Argentina reach 230

Buenos Aires - The number of swine flu deaths in Argentina had risen to at least 230 on Wednesday, the country's regional health ministers said.
The new flu variant has spread rapidly in the South American winter, but President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner sought to reassure the public last week, saying the situation had improved.
'The situation is better than two weeks ago,' she said, but warned it was too soon to give the all clear and urged continued to precautions to halt the spread of the virus.
Earlier this month, Argentina's health minister said there were up 100,000 cases of all flu variants, including the new A(H1N1) virus that was first reported in Mexico earlier this year.
The World Health Organization, this week reported 816 deaths worldwide and more than 134,500 A(H1N1) cases. Health officials and scientists are closely monitoring the situation in the Southern Hemisphere, where it is currently flu season, as they work on development of a vaccine.
In other Latin American nations, 79 people have died in Chile, 23 in Peru, 21 in Costa Rica and nine in Colombia.
In Mexico, 142 people died from the virus and 16,000 people were infected. Officials there fear a resurgence of the disease during the winter months.
