Early winter school break in Serbia to fight flu epidemic
Dec 15, 2009, 12:11 GMT
Belgrade - School winter break in Serbia will begin a week earlier, on December 18, due to swine flu epidemic, the Education Ministry said late Monday.
The school break will last until January 11, Education Minister Zarko Obradovc told reporters in Belgrade.
Obradovic added that the decision was made after the deterioration of the health situation in the country. So far health authorities have confirmed 457 cases of swine flu and 33 deaths.
In order to reduce the impact of swine flu, Serbia on October extended the autumn school break by a week. Experts said that the extended break helped stop the spread of the epidemic.
