Malaysia records first swine flu death for the year

Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia confirmed Tuesday the country's first swine-flu death in six months.
Health Minister Liow Tiong Lai said a 22-year-old woman died of respiratory problems at a hospital Sunday, two weeks after testing positive for the H1N1 virus.
'Although not many H1N1 deaths occur now, the Health Ministry wants to stress that the disease is still active in Malaysia and hopes that the society will continue to adopt preventive measures to contain the disease,' Liow was quoted as saying by the official Bernama news agency.
He said the woman had been suffering from fever and cough for eight days before she sought treatment.
It was Malaysia's first death linked to the virus this year, and brought the country's total swine flu fatalities to 78.
