Trade in counterfeit Viagra and Cialis booms in Hong Kong

Hong Kong - Counterfeit Viagra, Cialis and other impotence treatments account for 80 per cent of all fake drugs seized in Hong Kong, a senior customs official said in an interview Monday.
Sex drugs are being counterfeited in massive quantities, contributing to a 50-per-cent surge in the amount of fake drugs seized in the city.
The amount of counterfeit drugs confiscated surged from 6,282 pills in 2007 to 9,311 last year, Albert Ho, head of Hong Kong's Customs Intellectual Property Investigation Bureau, said in an interview with Monday's South China Morning Post.
Eighty per cent of counterfeit drugs seized were impotence treatments with Viagra and Cialis the brands most commonly faked, Ho said.
Fake anti-depressant and slimming drugs have also been found with some bulked up with starch or flour and others containing too much or too little of the real drug's active ingredient.
