Today, Promises announces that they have expanded into Eastern methods of treatment including a Traditional Chinese Medicine program with addition of Chinese nutrition and movement therapy.
The broken health care system in the U.S. has had many Americans look to “alternative” medicine, such as massage therapy, biofeedback, acupuncture and forms of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
Approximately 38 percent of adults and 12 percent of children in the U.S. use some form of complementary and alternative medicine, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s 2007 National Health Interview Survey.
Dr. David Sack, CEO of Promises Treatment Centers in Malibu and West Los Angeles, saw the potential two years ago, and Promises Treatment Centers was among the first to introduce a comprehensive holistic addiction treatment program to its clients. What began as a pain management unit for opiate withdrawal quickly expanded to include tuina, nutrition and cupping. Now Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) techniques help address all forms of emotional and physical pain during detox and early recovery.
According to Dr. Sack, what began as a pain management unit for opiate withdrawal quickly expanded to address all forms of emotional and physical pain during detox and early recovery.
Traditional Chinese Medicine program heals in a natural, holistic manner. It teaches clients an alternative way to deal with emotional and physical pain. Promises TCM program features a licensed and certified acupuncturist, Margot Chambers, who conducts a complete diagnostic of every patient multiple times per week.
Dr. Sack reveals that Chambers employs Traditional Chinese Medicine including Chinese nutrition to treat pain, insomnia, anxiety, digestive issues and the host of other complaints common in early recovery.
Traditional Chinese Medicine is a key part of the many effective methods used at Promises Treatment Centers, which houses some of the country’s leading addiction specialists. The TCM program at Promises includes movement therapy, using qigong and tai chi poses to improve function and reduce pain in different organ systems. Promises also recently launched a juicing program based on TCM nutrition principles.
Promises has been the drug rehabilitation center of choice for more than 20 years. For more information about Promises Treatment Centers, visit http://www.promises.com
