Kids' Christmas presents a liability for adults
Dec 22, 2011, 3:42 GMT
Sydney - Australian adults were warned Thursday that alcohol, holiday exuberance and the urge to have a go with trampolines, in-line skates and other children's Christmas presents were likely to prove a bone-breaking cocktail this Christmas as in previous years.
'Try not to mix alcohol and use of new toys,' New South Wales Ambulance Service spokesman David Morris said. 'This is where adults usually come unstuck.'
Two years ago, a Sydney father broke both his arms while trying out the skateboard he bought his son for Christmas.
The warning from paramedics came as Australian television presenter and international music industry personality Molly Meldrum, 65, was fighting for his life in a Melbourne hospital after falling off a ladder while putting up Christmas decorations.
