Jakarta - Two Indonesians died of bird flu this month, bringing the national death toll from the disease to 152, reports said Saturday.
'The 5-year-old girl was diagnosed with bird flu,' Tjandra Yoga Aditama, chief of the Health Ministry's communicable diseases section, was quoted by Media Indonesia as saying.
The child lived with her uncle, who died of the virus on January 7 in Jakarta. She was identified by a surveillance team and taken to a hospital.
Her condition deteriorated and she died on January 16, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
Indonesia has been the hardest-hit by bird flu with 184 human cases and 150 deaths reported between 2003-11.
The H5N1 bird flu strain has killed almost 350 people worldwide since 2003, the WHO said.
