Chennai, April 26 (IANS) India's premier IT firm HCL Infosystems Thursday announced a new technology that will enable computer users to recover all lost data within a matter of minutes with the help of its 'mixedware' named EC2.
The new tool, known as Embedded Continuity and Control (EC2) technology, is being made available in India by HCL in its new range of notebook computers and laptops making these gadgets self-healing and providing users a 'worry-free PC experience'.
The technology is software with a component embedded in the hardware that automatically stores and replicates 'a complete image of its own working state' of a file including system files at regular intervals.
'Research has shown that 95 percent of PC problems are software related and include accidental deletion, software corruption, problems of settings changes, virus-related system crashes,' said George Paul, HCL Infosystems executive vice-president.
'The new innovation will restore the lost data and system files in minutes, and HCL hopes this global innovation will be a tremendous value addition to Indian users of PCs,' he added.
HCL Infosystems is part of the $3.9 billion HCL Enterprises, India's largest PC manufacturer. It employs 45,000 people worldwide and has two plants at Puducherry and Rudrapur in Uttarakhand.
