HP launches new ink-jet printers

Kolkata, Dec 12 (IANS) Imaging and printing technology firm Hewlett Packard (HP) launched 20 new ink-jet printers here Wednesday, aiming to tap the emerging internet printing market globally.
'Worldwide, the total printing market is worth $147 billion, of which home and office printing segments contribute about $88 billion. Presently, the internet printing market holds a very large share of $43 billion globally,' Ashwini Aggarwal, country business manager of Hewlett Packard India Sales Pvt Ltd, told reporters during the launch.
'We are trying to hold a significant share in the growing internet printing market through HP's ink-jet technology,' he said.
The company says it has about 75 percent market share in the ink-jet printing segment.
The new range of printers is priced between Rs.2,799 to Rs.19,999.
With a portfolio spanning personal computing, software, services and IT infrastructure, HP is one of the world's largest IT companies with revenue totalling $104.3 billion for the four fiscal quarters till Oct 2007.
