Rajdhani derailment disrupts train services
Dec 13, 2007, 16:50 GMT
Ahmedabad, Dec 13 (IANS) Normal rail services between Delhi, Jaipur and Ahmedabad were thrown out of gear Thursday following the derailment of the Delhi-Ahmedabad Rajdhani Express on Rajasthan-Gujarat border.
The accident occurred between Sihrohi and Banas stations. All coaches of the train except the guard van and the engine derailed.
Jitendra Kumar Jayant, the public relations officer of Western Railway, said the work was in full swing at the accident site to put the derailed coaches back on track. Normal services are expected to resume by Thursday midnight, he added.
The railways cancelled Ahmedabad-Delhi Rajdhani Express service scheduled for Thursday and re-routed a dozen trains on Ahmedabad-Jaipur route. As a result, several trains were running behind schedule.
The Ahmedabad bound express from Jammu via Jodhpur has been halted at Jodhpur and will return to Jammu Thursday.
The re-routing has been done for trains passing via Ahmedabad to Ajmer, Jaipur and Bandra in Mumbai.
