Bhubaneswar, Dec 14 (IANS) India Friday test fired a surface-to-air nuclear capable 'Akash' missile from a defence range in Orissa for the second time in two days, defence sources said.
The indigenous missile was tested from a mobile launcher at the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur on sea, some 230 km from here, at 2.10 p.m. targeting a flying object released from a fighter aircraft Lakshya flown a few minutes before, the sources said.
The missile uses the integrated two-stage RAMJET propulsion technology to carry a maximum 50 kg payload.
Akash, which weighs 650 kg and has a range of 25 km, has been developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). On Thursday, the defence scientists had tested the Akash missile from the same test range.
