Dec 16, 2007, 7:13 GMT
Ahmedabad, Dec 16 (IANS) Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani cast his vote in Shahpur constituency of Ahmedabad amidst chaos emanating from a faulty Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) at the polling station.
The crowds became restive since the EVM was non functional from the very beginning of the polling. The machine started working after it was rectified. Advani cast his vote at around 8.35 a.m.
Coming out of the polling booth after exercising his right to franchise, Advani told reporters: 'The BJP is going to win in both the states of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh that are going to polls. The poll results are going to decide the timing of the mid term poll at the centre.'
A total of 599 candidates are contesting in 95 seats of central and northern Gujarat where 18.7 million voters have the right to vote.
