Pentagon outlines military strategy in report
Feb 4, 2006, 11:41 GMT
Washington - The Pentagon outlined its new strategy Friday for defending the United States that focuses on defeating terrorism and preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
The Pentagon released the 2006 Quadrennial Defence Review (QDR), a report required by Congress every four years. It's the first QDR that thoroughly addresses the war on terrorism. The 2002 version was mostly complete when the September 11, 2001, attacks took place.
The report emphasizes the fight against terrorism, what has recently been dubbed the 'long war' by Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.
'The United States is a nation engaged in what will be a long war,' the report says.
The Pentagon plans to beef up special operations forces, especially by increasing the number of psychological personnel by 3,700, the report says.
That element of the plan focuses on the importance of being able to communicate with locals in foreign countries, said Vice Admiral Evan Chanik of the Pentagon's Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The QDR also shifts away from the need for tanks, airplanes, ships and guns in favour of tools that improve communications 'timely, actionable intelligence.'

They are going to terrorize the internet with propaganda and disinformation. This is not a joke. Certain members of the DoD seem to think they can bull**** their way out of a failed war. Not only are they lying to the enemy (which is understandable), the problem is that they are lying to America as well.
