Rescued foreign and Egyptian hostages arrive at the east Cairo Military Airport in Cairo 29 September 2008 after being help captive for 10 days in the Sahara Desert by kidnappers. In an apparent military operation, the 11 foreigners (5 Italian, 5 German and one Romanian) and 8 Egyptians were freed after having been kidnapped on a desert safari in the southwest corner of Egypt in the picturesque Gilf Kebir area.
