Police find nine bodies south of Baghdad
Dec 9, 2005, 16:41 GMT
Baghdad - Iraqi police found nine male bodies in a desert region near Mussayib, south of Baghdad, police in neighbouring Hillah said Friday.
The victims, two of them police officers, had been bound and shot dead, they added.
Meanwhile in Buhris, north of Baghdad, several armed persons stormed a shop and shot dead two customers. Police did not give a motive.
Two Iraqis were reported killed Friday in a clash with police in western Baghdad. Insurgents killed two U.S. soldiers Wednesday in the western Iraqi rebel stronghold of Ramadi, the U.S. army announced earlier.
Meanwhile campaigning for Iraq's upcoming parliamentary elections is in full spate. The general secretary of the opposition Communist Party, Hamid Majid Mussa, attacked the interim government on television Friday accusing it of corruption.
Iraqis on Thursday vote for a new parliament which will stay in office for four years.
Several of the smaller parties have denied reports that they will boycott the elections, saying these were rumours spread by political rivals.
