Israeli forces searching for Iran nuclear sites - Sunday Times
Mar 5, 2006, 13:15 GMT
London - The British weekly Sunday Times reported that Israeli special forces were in Iran in the search for secret nuclear enrichment sites.
Citing unidentified sources, the report said the Israelis were operating out of northern Iraq with the approval of the United States.
Although the Sunday Times report was carried by Israeli media outlets Sunday morning, Israeli government officials had 'no reaction' to it.
In December, Israeli officials dismissed as 'more imaginary than real' a report in the same newspaper that Sharon had ordered military officials to prepare possible Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities.
However, senior defence ministry official Amos Gilad said at the time Iranian threats were receiving constant diplomatic, strategic and security assessments with the focus on international diplomacy, adding 'no one knows what will happen in the future.'
