Arab world split over when to celebrate key Muslim feast
Oct 22, 2006, 20:37 GMT
Amman - Arab countries on Sunday appeared divided into two camps over when to start Muslim festivities marking the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.
The split came when four Arab countries - Jordan, Egypt, Syria and Oman - declared Sunday night that they were going to start the Eid al-Fitr celebrations on Tuesday, a day later than announced by 10 other Arab states earlier Sunday.
The four released statements by their top Islamic judges asserting that monitoring panels had 'failed to sight the crescent' of Shawal, the Arabic lunar month that comes immediately after Ramadan.
'Therefore, Monday will be the last day of Ramadan and the first day of Eid al-Fitr will be on Tuesday,' said Ahmad Hlayel, Jordan's chief justice.
According to strict Islamic teachings, fasting should start with the sighting of Ramadan's crescent and end with the sighting of the crescent of the next month, Shawal.
Islamic clergymen were so far unable to reach agreement on the use of astronomical apparatus to decide the start and end of the fasting month.
Earlier in the day, 10 Arab countries led by Saudi Arabia decided to begin festivities on Monday, simply because they had also started fasting one day earlier than other states in the region.
Other Arab states due to celebrate Eid al-Fitr on Monday are Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Yemen, Lebanon, Palestine, Libya and Sudan.

ISNA MOON CALCULATION 'EID' HOAX GOES SOUTH
Islamic Community Net

'The Moon is so far south that, when one day old on the 23rd, it sets before the Sun; the two-day-old Moon is equally impossible to see. These are the lowest, hardest-to-see crescent Moons in 18 years.'

We don't need adherents of scientism to tell us how to handle our deen. They are unclear on the concept anyway.
Allah (S.W.T.) has ordained in Surah al-Baqarah (2:189) that crescents are to be used for calculating time - NOT the reverse, that time should be used to calculate the crescents:
'They ask you concerning the Crescents. Say, 'They (indicate) the fixed seasons for mankind and for pilgrimage''
(al-Baqarah 2:189) (translation of the meaning)
As you can observe from the above Farmer's Almanac data, the crescents are even visible (from the US) for several days after the 'scientific' new moon.
Keep scientists' hands off our deen!

ISNA PROCLAIMS EID ON DAY WHEN MOON CANNOT BE SEEN ANYWHERE IN NORTH
AMERICA
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/islamiccommunitynet/message/11037
Assalamu aleikum.
The isnaic religious cult has falsely declared Monday to be Eid,
together with the Bahais and other false religions. Do not be misled
by any of them.
Here is the text of the isnaites emailed 'announcement':
-
Eid-ul-Fitr Announcement
In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful
According to the calculation criteria for determining the Islamic
Lunar dates adopted by the Fiqh Council of North America, Eid Ul-Fitr
for the year 1427 is on the first day of Shawwal Monday, October 23, 2006.
Eid Mubarak!
-
But the chief moon adviser of the isnaites themselves, Khalid Shaukat,
has posted a moon visibility curve graph on his website proving that
on the night of Sunday October 22nd, the moon CANNOT be seen ANYWHERE
AT ALL in North America!
http://moonsighting.com/visibilitycurves/1427shw.gif
Anyone who follows the demented 'moon calculation' dictates of the
isnaic religion in preference to the Qur'an and Hadith of the holy
deen of Allah (S.W.T.) - ISLAM - joins the isnaites in their apostasy
from Islam.
Don't join isnaism, the bahais, yahudis or any other religion with
their phony moon 'calculation' ideologies that are promoted by the
Bush Regime's neocon US State Department in order to undermine our deen.
For information on those US State Department efforts, see:
http://grenoble.indymedia.org/index.php?page=article&filtre=0&droiteA=0 &numpageA=1&id=3467
Do not obey Bush and his worshippers in the isnaic cult. Hold instead
firmly to the ROPE OF ALLAH (S.W.T.) - the Holy Qur'an, and obey the
Sunnah of Rasulullah (S.A.W.) as ordered by the Holy Qur'an.
Allah (S.W.T.) says (translation of the meaning):
---
'They ask you concerning the Crescents (new moons). Say, 'They
(indicate) the fixed seasons for mankind and for pilgrimage''
(al-Baqarah 2:189)
---
Note closely and well that the Qur'an does *NOT* say 'They ask you
concerning the clocks. Say 'They indicate the astronomical time of the
new moons'. Doing so would be turning the direct order of Allah
(S.W.T.) completely around.
So ... as your final remaining task for Ramadan and insha'Allah to
receive reward from Allah (S.W.T.) ASSIST your locality to search for
the moon Monday and Tuesday nights. In most of the US the moon of
Shawwal 1427 should be searched on those nights.
The exception is San Diego, California, which actually did physically
sight the moon one day before it became visible to the rest of the US
(one full day after the phony calculations of the isnaite religion and
also one full day after the discredited reports of a 'moonsighting' in
Denton, Texas). In San Diego, thirty days will be completed when their
fast ends Monday evening and their Eid should be Tuesday, as the moon
cannot be physically sighted anywhere in the US, including San Diego,
on Sunday night.
Other than San Diego, if insha'Allah the moon is actually physically
sighted in a locality on Monday evening, then, like San Diego, that
locality also celebrates Eid on Tuesday.
There is no such thing as a 'national' moonsighting that follows
artificial political national state 'boundaries', so if the moon is
not actually seen in a particular locality on Monday night, then
thirty days of Ramadan are insha'Allah completed by that locality
Tuesday night and Eid insha'Allah is Wednesday for those localities
which did not find it Monday night.
To all those who are grateful to Allah (S.W.T.) for the deen of Islam
which He has provided us through His Holy Qur'an and through the
Sunnah of Rasulullah (S.A.W.): May you and your locality have a
blessed Eid in the unity of obedience to our shared deen of Islam on
Tuesday or Wednesday as the case may be.
Wa salaam.
This so eloquently sums up the problem at hand:
'Hopeful Muslim'
- 'Islam is a religion of science and learning, is it not the time to join the rest of the planet?'
Sounds nice, eh? Sort of gives you hope for a second or two... Maybe our children's children wont be at each others throats...
Then we hear from:
'Science, shmience!'
'We don't need adherents of scientism to tell us how to handle our deen. They are unclear on the concept anyway.'
'Scientism'... You call questioning, rational thought 'scientism'? Is this what it comes down to? Anyone who wants to examine the situation a bit is an apostate? I wonder if you can comprehend how retrograde that is.
'But the chief moon adviser....'
The 'chief' fricking 'moon adviser', does that title come a whistle? Maybe a hat? Is that what this guy , and of course it is a guy, puts on his tax returns? 'Muhammad M. Muhammad; Chief moon adviser.'
'Anyone who follows the demented 'moon calculation' dictates of the
isnaic religion in preference to the Qur'an and Hadith of the holy
deen of Allah (S.W.T.) - ISLAM - joins the isnaites in their apostasy
from Islam.'
And it is permissible to kill apostates under Shara, right?
'ideologies that are promoted by the Bush Regime's neocon US State Department in order to undermine our deen.'
Is this a joke? Seriously, if this is satire I apologize but crazier things have been blamed on Bush... Not much crazier though...
'Do not obey Bush and his worshippers in the isnaic cult. Hold instead
firmly to the ROPE OF ALLAH '
Or swing from it no doubt....
The only question left to be resolved is what is the ratio of 'Hopeful Muslim's' to 'Science, shmience's'...
Pretty depressing.

Hopeful MuslimOct 22nd, 2006 - 22:15:55
Is it not sad that we live in the 21st century and still rely on some individual to walk out to the playground and look up at the sky to find the moon. Islam is a religion of science and learning, is it not the time to join the rest of the planet?
Wouldn't the prophet himself, blessed his soul, would be the first to join the ranks of promoting science and practical thinking?
May God guide all to what is best.
