Peretz: Rocket attacks on Israel break ceasefire
Nov 26, 2006, 9:41 GMT
Tel Aviv - Israeli Defence Minister Amir Peretz on Sunday declared a new rocket attack on Israel following the imposition of a ceasefire as a breach of the ceasefire agreement.
According to local media reports, Peretz said Israel would react harshly to every attack.
Palestinian militants have fired three Qassam rockets at the Israeli border city Sderot since Sunday morning.
During a visit to a school in Sderot, Israeli Education Minister Juli Tamir said Sunday that Israel could not exercise restraint should rockets continue to fall.
'I hope the Palestinians rein in the all groups. We have a common interest in a ceasefire,' she said.
A ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian militant factions in Gaza took effect Sunday morning, with the former withdrawing its troops from the Strip and the latter promising not to fire rockets at Israeli communities bordering the salient.
