Israeli jets violate airspace over southern Lebanon

Dec 11, 2006, 16:51 GMT

Beirut(dpa) - Israeli jets violated airspace in southern Lebanon Monday by flying at low altitude over areas where UN peacekeepers are stationed, police said.

The jets also flew over the cities of Tyre, Marjayun and Nabatiyeh, police said.

France, which currently heads the UN force in Lebanon, protested to the Israeli authorities in October following a series of airspace violations over its positions in south Lebanon.

Israel has defended its overflights by saying they are needed to monitor arms shipments to the Lebanese Shiite militant group Hezbollah.

UN chief Kofi Annan has warned that Israel's airspace violations 'undermine the credibility of both UNIFIL and Lebanese armed forces.'

UN Resolution 1701, which was adopted in August and ended 33 days of fighting between the Israeli army and Hezbollah, called for a beefed-up UNIFIL force alongside 15,000 Lebanese troops to monitor the borders between Lebanon and Israel.

...and see why this ceasefire is a sham. Hizbos are using it to rearm.

Good! I hope the 'Hizbos' hand Israel an even more humiliating defeat in the next war.

Aren't low overflights just harrasment? How does Israel gather any intelligence at 2000 feet that it cannot obtain at 40,000 Ft. altitude?? Israel unfortunately, see's the use of raw intimidation as sensible policy. The Zionists have had a good run using their raw power and economic advantage to get their way. It seems they may have overplayed their cards and find themselves in a situation that resembles their worst nightnmare scenario. Worse yet, their over reach has the possibility nto endanger their States very existence. In their relegation of the Palistinians to refugee status in their own country, they have created an apartheid state resembling South Africa in too many ways. When prominent Jewish leaders like Eli Wisel advocate for policies of agressive behavior that kills hundred of thousands of innocent wolmen & children. You have a formula which is unstable. A policy that is blind to killing and torture and is only concerned with the advancement of its own concerns at any cost. Unfortunately, too many people will support these policies when Jewish people are the perpetrators and the Arabs are the victims. How will they react when Jewish people are the principle victims?

I realize that what is regarded as over flight violations by some are regarded as recon flights by others technicially though the exact border has never been defined since even biblicial time many Israelis regard Tyre as a Israeli city the Litaini River as Israeli although since 1948 American Zionist puppets have played down this radicial approach even the Sinai is not clearly defined again thus who is occupying who as for re arming the terrorists who cares this is to be expected the UN sheep cry about it but it is to be expected the Golen Heights border is open to these terrorists whenever they are prepared to attack Israel RIGHT ??? THANK YOU... M. Segal

Yeah, let them crawl out from under the rubble and declare victory again. I notice that flabby tub of lard Nasrallah was safe enough while he brought death and destruction on Lebanon.
