Ahmadinejad offers Nicaragua help against "common enemies" (Extra)

Jan 14, 2007, 21:00 GMT

Managua - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Sunday he hopes to support the Nicaraguan government with investments and economic aid.

Following talks with Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega, Ahmadinejad stressed that both countries had 'common interests and common enemies.'

The Iranian president and Ortega signed an agreement committing their countries to work together on economic, political and cultural issues.

Ahmadinejad is to attend the presidential inauguration of Rafael Correa in Ecuador on Monday.

The Iranian President was correct. They have many enemies, and in their case the enemy are the GOOD Nations. He should be fearful, because Israel could easily destroy Tehran as a pre-emptive strike against the EVIL Iranian Regime.

The enemies are not 'good' nations. They are the nations that invade, attack and kill in this day and age.

Good for Iran, a peaceful country, I hope it gains many allies.

The US is undoubtedly the most diverse culture in the world. For any country to say that they hate the US would be to say that they hate some of their own countrymen. What they hate is Christianity and will do whatever they can with their infintesimally small mind to try to destroy.

It is interesting that Bush, who dimished Suni power in Iraq is now facing
the potential unification of the Iranian and Iraqi Shias. Along with the President of Iran making visits to now communist nations of Venezuela, Bolivia,
Cuba and the newly returned power to Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua. Its spells major potential growth in terroist attacks aside from Al Qqaeda. Besides
making the wrong mistakes of Iraq, he now creates another set of enenmies
by provocation.

Hey Abab remember a little conflict during the '80's between the U.S.-backed Contras and the Communist-backed Sandinistas? A little early for current president Bush to be blamed, don't you think? None of these enemies are new, Bush-basher. These are the same enemies of freedom that have been around for centuries. Freedom must alway be protected by those who are willing to kill and die for it. Death to the enemies of America, death to the enemies of Freedom. You won't be able to hide much longer.

Hey nevermore, did you serve in the military, did you fight a war?
I did freedom fighter and I don't have to apologize to anyone, especially
idiots that think freedom is kicking someones ass. The real point is if someone does not like our way of life that is their choice. I happen
to like are way of life but am tired of fighting for trying to
impress our idealology on somone else. Over 55,000 vets died in Vietnam
and now China Beach is flooded with tourists sun tanning and Lane furniture is being made there. If you fought there and looked down to the ground below you and see you have no legs I would seriously like to know how you would feel.
Why don't you open your eyes because the world is much bigger than you obviously think. By the way my name has additional letters that would let you
really know what I am about.

The US is diverse...it is both good and evil, like Iran and Venezuela. The problem arises from our refusal to see the evil in ourselves and the good in others...it is much easier the other way around.
Most Americans have never met an Iranian and have no concept of Persian society (I have but a little). Iranians get their image of the US from television and the words of their leaders just as we get our impression of Iran.
The US has the strength to act without fear, yet we act out from fear instead of from strength. We do not need to dominate, we need to lead. We do not need to correct the problems of other societies, but we could look around our own backyard. Creating a better space for living here in the US could help lead others, especially as we are also always willing to lend help where its needed.
When we can lead and help without acting from fear we will become what we are meant to be.

'Most Americans have never met an Iranian and have no concept of Persian society'

The guy who lives next door is Persian. (from Iran) He is an authentic gentleman and I am glad I know him. He fled when the revolution came and made his wife put on a veil or get beaten by religious police, closed down the free press, took American hostages in our embassy and in Lebanon killing some there, sponsored attacks against the USA including a barracks bombing that killed 250 servicemen, funded terrorist movements all over the world, Mined the Strait of Hormuz...I could go on here but you hopefully are getting the picture...

Respect for the Persians and their ancient culture is appropriate. Trying to legitimize, apologize for or diminish the bad actions of recent Iranian history by making some kind of moral equivalence argument isn't IMHO.

I should correct myself; The guy next door is an American of Persian decent. He loves this country too, and has a life here he could never achieve under the thumb of the mullahs.
