Palestinian killed in pre-dawn Israeli raid on Nablus
Jan 18, 2007, 6:20 GMT
Ramallah - Israeli soldiers on a military operation in the old city of Nablus early Thursday shot and killed a 22-year-old Palestinian and wounded others, according to security sources.
They said a large army force entered the northern West Bank city in the early morning searching for wanted militants.
During their operation, they opened fire at a Palestinian, killing him in what appeared to be a targeted assassination, according to sources at Rafidya hospital in Nablus.
The dead Palestinian was identified as Muhannad Ghandour, an armed member of Fatah movement.
The Israeli army was confronted by young Palestinians who pelted soldiers with rocks. The soldiers opened fire at the youths, wounding three, one reported in critical condition. The army also arrested a number of Palestinians.
