Jordan's King blasts Eilat bombing, sees EU effort crucial to peace
Jan 29, 2007, 17:10 GMT
Amman - Jordan's King Abdullah on Monday condemned the suicide bombing at the Israeli Red Sea port of Eilat and urged efforts by European Union countries and the G8 powers which he said were crucial for achieving 'real and tangible progress' in peace talks in the region.
The monarch made the remarks during a meeting with ambassadors of the EU countries and the G8 states, an official statement from the royal court said.
'The monarch condemned the Eilat operation, saying such attacks will only increase the sufferings of the Palestinians,' the statement said.
'Such operations seek to derail and sabotage efforts aimed at bridging the gap between the Palestinians and Israelis and ensuring their return to the negotiating table,' the statement quoted the king as telling the envoys.
At least three Israelis were killed when a Palestinian blew himself up at a bakery in Eilat.
King Abdullah said 'the importance of the EU and G8 role will increase this year as efforts intensify to relaunch the peace process between the Palestinian and Israeli sides'.
'The region attaches much importance to this role for accomplishing real and tangible progress in the peace process that should lead to the eventual creation of an independent Palestinian state' that lives in peace with Israel, the statement said.

Don't misunderstand me, I am a negro who is a friend of Israel, I am a Democrate who supports George W. Bush. I simply made a philosophical statement on warfare tactics. I think slavery was good for negroes. It civilized my forefathers. The slaves were heathens (Moslems), pagans and animists. The White man gave us his blessed religion of Christianity and his culture. Had it not been for slavery we (negroes) would still be living in Africa running around half naked. Plus I LOVE bar-b-qued pork ribs! '
