Mashaal warns of 'open battle' with Israel, hatred of US (Roundup)

Feb 27, 2007, 16:43 GMT

Moscow - Hamas politburo leader Khaled Mashaal called Tuesday for 'fundamental change' in the Quartet of Mideast peace brokers and warned of 'open battle' with Israel and Islamic hatred toward the United States unless Washington resumes aid funding.

'The Arab and Islamic world need a fundamental change in the politics of the Quartet,' Mashaal said of the group of Russia, the United States, the European Union and the United Nations, in remarks made during a Moscow visit and quoted by Interfax.

Mashaal added that the 'Arab world demands' the international community react positively to an agreement Hamas struck earlier this month with rival faction Fatah in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, that promised to pave the way for a future Palestinian unity government.

Mashaal's trip to Moscow marked the second time a Hamas delegation had traveled to the Russian capital since the militant group, ostracized by the West, took control of the Palestinian legislature in elections last year.

The United States and European Union have labled Hamas a terrorist group.

The organization's founding charter is committed to the destruction of Israel, and the US-based Council on Foreign Relations estimates Hamas has killed 'more than 500 people in terrorist attacks' since 1993.

Not backing from sharp rhetoric, Mashaal said during a press conference in Moscow Tuesday that the 'refusal of Israel of our rights and the continuation of aggressive policies will lead the region to an open battle,' Itar-Tass reported.

The Hamas leader added that Israeli-led construction near Jerusalem's Temple Mount would end in a 'bloody battle.'

After meeting with Mashaal Tuesday afternoon, however, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Mashaal's delegation had assured him it would take measures to stop shelling Israeli territories with Qassam rockets.

Both Lavrov and Mashaal also said Hamas would reject violence in achieving its goals.

'The meeting confirmed the correctness and justification of our approach ... in the need to actively work with representatives of (Hamas),' Lavrov said in remarks run by Interfax.

The Russian top diplomat also urged the United States and European Union to end what he called an economic 'blockade' against the Palestinian territories.

Washington and Brussels cut what is estimated to be hundreds of millions of dollars in direct aid to the Palestinian government after Hamas' parliamentary victory.

Both have said they will not resume monetary support of the Palestinian government until Hamas recognizes Israel, renounces violence and fulfills past promises.

Mashaal demanded in tougher terms that Washington resume its aid funding: 'The American administration's insistence on the continuation of the blockade will give birth to more hatred toward America not only ... on a Palestinian level but on an Arab, Islamic level.'

While the West has taken a harder line with groups like Hamas and states that it claims sponsor terrorism, Russia has tried to regain Soviet-era influence in the Middle East by encouraging diplomatic cooperation with Hamas and countries including Syria and Iran.

Lavrov said last week after a Berlin meeting of the so-called Quartet of Mideast peace brokers - Russia, the United States, the EU and the United Nations - that 'there is no talk of a boycott of the coalition government' of Hamas and Fatah.

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has vowed to reserve judgment of the agreed-upon Palestinian unity government before it forms, and EU members including France have called it a step in the right direction.

Lavrov Tuesday said that the Hamas-Fatah coalition and the beginning of a functional government in the Palestinian territories would 'open the path to the beginning of the peace process between Palestine and Israel,' Itar-Tass reported.

Israel, however, has said it will not negotiate with PLO leader Mahmoud Abbas if he joins an alliance with Hamas.

How can a 'leader' promote peace and a unified government in one sentence, and promise death to Israel and the United States in the next sentence.

What I am hearing is 'send us your money (i.e. resume aid)or you will be killed' - I think that's called armed robbery in America, isn't it?

Do they (Hammas) honestly think they can bully their way to power, and suffer no consequences for their actions?

No one is asking for them to be Isreal, but they are asking for them to be 'real' The 'death to America' chants are getting old. Poop or get off the pot.

I think more troublesome is how the world is starting to polarize as during the cold war, with Russia and now China on the side of Syria and Iran, and the US siding with Israel. Russia and China are using this as a proxy way to resist US hegemony, but this kind of superpowers siding in a more local conflict is what led to World War I.

Israel can take the desert and turn it into farmland, how they can develop their own nukes, how they can have one of the best trained militaries in the world, and maintain a high standard of living.

The Palestinians who are living in the same patch of dirt and were being given financial aid comparable to what Israel gets were only able to get some rinky-dink unguided missiles while Arafat and others got super-rich.

Now they want more money, for what? So the politicos can buy bigger mansions in Syria? Or maybe they realized that now that the miniscule percent that actually went to the people is gone they might have a revolt?

While the ones who were supposed to divy the money got rich they led their people to think they were getting a fare shake, now that the money is gone they can blame the West so the people will revolt against them not the ones who ripped them off.

And because Israel has proven itself to be the strongest state in the region even before receiving US support, during the 6-day war. And because we're a humane nation that doesn't like to kill babies even when terrorists hide behind them, like in Lebanon. We suffered heavy military and civilian casualties in this war because we didn't carpet-bomb areas from where they fired on our cities. So what planet are the Russians on? It is time the west re-examined their relationship with these fools, selling nuclear reactors to Iran and the surface to air missiles to defend them and now inserting their incompetent rear-ends into the Palestinian problem on behalf of the terrorists.

Wow - people are very polarized on this issue. But people should realize that the truth lies somewhere in between. Israel has certainly committed its atrocities; if I remember correctly Israel has more U.N. resolutions against it then ANY other country (and that doesn't even count the resolutions that the U.S vetoed, which are MANY). Palestinians are certainly not innocent either. The difference comes in unity and firepower - both of which Israel has attained, but those in Palestine have been unable (I would fear the day that those in Palestine get the same type of firepower). Regardless, everyone should be working for peace in the region, else we let hatred flourish and it will continue to cause problems outside of the mid-east as it has done in the past. You give people food, clean water, access to medicine and you'll diminish hatred at the source. You deny anyone these amenities and you risk creating a cesspool of despair. If we neglect the situation in the mid-east or Africa for much longer we will see the ramifications for generations.

America is often criticized for meddling in other nations affairs. Here is one situation where we pulled out of a country (monetarily) and they do nothing but complain. Seems every country wants America’s money, created on the backs of hard working Americans who embrace the entrepreneurial spirit of capitalism (and separation of Church and State), but no one wants to work for it. Why don’t we pull our money out of more countries, allocate it to improving ourselves through education and infrastructure, and then have those countries show us why we should give it to them. Maybe then they will stop acting like a bunch of spoiled brats or pull it together long enough to become self-sufficient. America is not running a charity here…

The truth of the matter is, the it is the US gov't, namely Congress and the President, who have stymied any real dialogue for peace between the Palestinians and Israelis. With every billion dollars allocated to the occupying regime of Israel, the 17th wealthiest country in the world which demands nearly 1/3 of US foreign aid, the US gov't is actively facilitating the further occupation and colonization of Palestine. This has been going on long before any type of suicide attack by Palestinians against Israel.

And in reponse to a clearly misguided individual who stated 'Palestinians already have a state in Gaza, and we all see how thats turning out' Really? So are you inferring that there should also be a separation of racisms and State like there is or should be Church and state? I agree there is a LOT of potential in that thought. That would save a lot of time and money.

Just goes to show that Islam is the new Sith Empire. Exactly - Israel makes a dirt patch into paradise, while the palestinians' part of the same dirt patch looks like the moon. Oh, don't pick up a hammer and some nails and offer to help rebuild the ramp to your own stupid mosque. Bitch instead, it's way more productive - or just strap a backpack full of C4 and wood screws to one of your kids and go 'ALALALALALA!'.

Such ignorance should be wiped from the planet. However, I think that in order to combat such niggardry, Israel should be translating as many books into Arabic as possible and launching catapult-fuls over the wall. If that doesn't work, then they'll have all that extra time to restock on bombs.

The re-forming of Israel is the best thing to ever happen to the Muslims, and they're too full of hate to see the poossibilities of an Islamic renaissance. Instead, all they can see is muder. All across the planet, it's muslims vs. someone else, and where there is noone else it's muslims vs muslims. Y'all niggas need to chill with that shit.

I am so sick and tired of this. As an American I don not want any money to go to the Palistinians to support their backwards, uncivilized, terrorist ways. They have shown no interest in peace, but an interest in body peices only. Until they grow up, accept the state of Isreal, stop their street chanting, respect people (including women), and join the modern world nothoing should be given to them. Everything that has been given including land for peace, money, and a path towards freedom via democracy has been used for terror against Isreal.

While I am on point here, I also think that the USA should stop supporting the UN as it is the most worthless organization that has failed. The USA should turn its back on the Euro's and support only its true friends the Brits, Poles, and maybe one or two more European nations. The Euro's forgot who saved them from their own spinless behaviors (They would be part of Russia today). With friends like them who needs enemies. The Euro's are now becomeing a closed socialist society. And then the Middle East, still stuck in 600ad living under uneducated, uncivilized, draconian rulers. They get what they deserve. No more USA moniey should be given to all the corrupt nations.

In regards to Russia I remember a political cartoon from the early 90s on the editorial page. It showed Gorbechev talking to Uncle Sam lamenting about the organized crime and corruption after the fall of Communism and asking Uncle Sam what to do. Uncle Sam replied with something like 'wait ten years and the crooks will be running the government too and it won't matter'.

I'm afraid that has come to pass, the crooks got rich and run the government and I'm afraid nothing good will come of it.

Lots of American tax money goes to that reagion, why not have it be spent to promote peace as opposed to stubborn policies. They say they are willing to accept what Abbas negotiates! ...And the Flame war begins.

Ivor - you, sir, have some seriously clouded points of view. First of all, this isn't about Iraq (although clearly, the denizens of that place have their acts together - given Iraq's Impeccable human rights record, stable government loved by its people, and status as an emerging superpower before the evil yankee doodle invasion of 03). It's about why the Muslims can't act like human beings. And no, We're there because we need to retrieve the Pillars of Horus from their resting places under the Tower of Babel and Ziggurat of Ur, respectively. You know, if America had Zionist masters, then US troops would be on the ground. 'Sides, what's wrong with a little Zionism anyways? I've noticed that Zionism is the politically correct way to talk shit about Jews these days. The US civil war proved that America does kick ass, be it our own ass, christian ass, muslim ass, or zoroastrian ass.

You want to know about destroying a religion? How come more books have been translated into mandarin chinese in the last five years than have been translated into arabic in the last 500? Because Islam is not intellectually curious. One book is all they need. That sounds like a damn fine way to not only destroy a religion where there were once over 315 schools of independent philosophy (there are now about 5 in Islam), but a people as well by condeming them to ignorance.

I do think the Jesus bones thing is great, do a wikipedia search on 'jewish messiah' for a really good explanation of why Jews didn't accept Christ.

The Liberty? 9/11? Ok, so what do those have to do with Palestinians (who danced in the streets on 9/11, regardless of what the US gov's role was - oh wait, wasn't that the Mossad? I like a good conspiracy as much as the next guy, so long as they don't contradict each other. The theories surrounding Israel's involvement do so consistantly - as I recall the first warning came from them, which makes sense since they are surrounded by psychotic, death worshipping 6th century Jawas) behaving in a manner rife with niggardry, throwing stones and molotovs instead of helping to build their own goddamned ramp?!

On March 17th, please attempt to keep me in my house. I dare you. If I have to pick between the people who have maintained a beautiful, cultured and learned society for 2000 years - despite constant persecution - and people who strap bombs to their kids.. well, that's a no brainer. If I have to pick between a corrupt cabal of bankers, or the slave masters of the desert wastes and mountains of China - again, that's pretty easy. What's more inimical to personal, social and economic freedom - American Socio-Capitalism, Fanatic islam or Chinese commie-nism? Pretty easy choice to see who's the Light Side and who's the Dark Side. Long live the USA, Long live Israel. Hope the mooslims catch up soon and start living as free, independent, reasonable people.

The Jews concerned were deported back to Israel without charges being laid.

Oh and the Jews made a lot of money unloading stocks and shares in the affected airlines and the WTC .. 3 days before the attack .. I believe the Feds know which bank accounts that money ended up in.

The Jewish Embassy in New York is a radiation hot spot .. this has been confirmed by the FBI (Google it) A Radiation hot spot??

Its a safe bet that the Jews are not running and Oncology Centre .. It looks like a suitcase nuclear bomb that was smuggled in under diplomatic cover ..

I also hear the Feds have found another suspicious Jewish hot spot in Houston .. is that the major oil terminal in the USA?

Well .. it sure looks like the Zionists have ya all by the short and curlies and Cherthof head of Homeland Security holds dual Nationality .. How come someone who holds Jewish nationality can hold such a position?

They have already erected the concentration camps all over the USA .. has it never occurred to you to take a look at the security apparatus of Hitlers Germany? .. compare it with the current American set up .. they are identical.

Low key as yet .. but one more false flag incident in the USA and then the round up will occur .. with the long marches to the rail heads for transportation to detention .. Your Ancestors Disgust Me
It has come to my attention that many of your ancestors were pedophiles. They probably didn’t know it, since marrying 15-year old girls was considered “normal” by those perverts. And I’m sure they had excuses such as the fact that the life expectancy was 17. So maybe they rationalized it by saying they had to start pinching out new farm hands before the plague got them. Blah, blah, blah. But that’s no excuse for being a pedophile.

I also have it on good authority that your ancestors from several thousand years ago rarely washed their hands with soap after pooping in the desert, or forest, or igloo, whatever. You come from a long line of unhygienic child molesters.

If you follow your repulsive blood line far enough back, you will find that your ancestors were atheists at best, but more likely worshippers of phalluses.

That’s right: You are the genetic fruit of unhygienic, penis-worshipping, child molesters.

And they couldn’t read – those illiterate, unhygienic, penis-worshipping, child molesters.

Keep going back in time and there’s a virtual guarantee that somewhere a cousin married a cousin, or a brother married a sister. Statistically speaking, you’re probably an inbred spawn of incestious, illiterate, unhygienic, penis-worshipping child molesters.

It makes you wonder what dumb-ass things we’re doing now that our descendants will find humorously repulsive. I think they’ll get a kick out of the fact that about a billion people thought God carved ten commandments on stone tablets and somehow the tablets got misplaced. I’d like to know how that conversation went between Moses and Mrs. Moses.

Moses: “Honey, have you seen my stone tablets from God?”

Mrs. Moses: “They didn’t match the carpets so I threw them out.”

Moses: “WHAT??? THOSE CAME DIRECTLY FROM GOD

Great, now I can cancel my Alex Jones subscription, since you've just pasted half of his website up here.

Yeah, I seem to remember an awful lot of Israeli Arabs that got rounded up. A lot of people PERIOD made a lot of money leading up to 9/11, what's your point? There's a Jewish Embassy? I'm sorry, I thought there was an Israeli embassy. Looks like I'M the one who should check MY facts. >: D

The Israeli Embassy in New York is a Bomb shelter, that much is true. I can understand that, given your limited command of english, you could get mixed up. While we're on that note, a lot of radioactive material is used in cancer treatment, anyone knows that. Considering that it took Jews to help invent the nuclear bomb, it's more than fair that they get them. A false flag attack, huh? Looks like the one to blame for any false flag attack is the one instigating it, not the one getting paid to carry it out. If your country was the size of New Jersey, and the strongest country in the world gave you an assload of foreign aid to hit one of its' own ships, wouldn't you? Oh no, that's against the koran/mein kampf/whatever Ivor is reading. Hypocrisy at its finest when you see what Muslims are doing in darfur, chechnya, kashmir, thailand, madrid, london, and on islam's own territory.

I personally don't like the idea of anyone in the US govt. holding dual citizenship, but if you want to connect the Bush family to the nazis, google Vannevar Bush and Prescott Bush. When it comes time to tear those camps down, this is one Jew that will be there - unless, of course, it turns out that everyone from the camps really is a detainee from Kerplachistan. I want the Bush regime out too, but know this - I for one have learned the lesson of the holocaust (funny, guys like you, Ivor, usually say that it never happened when it's convenient) - Round me up, when you try you can say hello to my little .50 caliber friend - Oh, and incidentally, you've not once said anything that refutes a single point that I've made about the mooslims being backwards and being in dire need of a renaissance. Prison planet is just one of a host of such sites .. because its for sure the biggest conspiracy stories on this planet are the Official stories of events.

Ah so ya pack a Magnum? well when Cherthof's Brown Shirts kick your door down I trust you will give good account of yourself .. mind ya 0.50 caliber sort of leaves ya out gunned against the stun grenades and gas grenades and the automatic rifles and the machine pistols .. should I contact Interflora now or later?

Well now just from the top of my head .. it was the Babylonians and the Persians that invented reading and math .. some of those inscribed clay tablets from around the Tigris and the Euphrates have been dated at circa 8000 years old.
They were great Astronomers and laid the foundations of modern Astronomy.

Western Medicine owes a great debt to the Physicians of Arabia .. for 1500 years they guided Western Medicine. Agriculture owes a great debt to those early pastorals of Babylon.

Take a look at some of the remaining architecture in Iraq .. take a look at the Glory of Moorish Spain .. take a look at Tehran .. all superb! They were civilized whilst we were still in Woad and Bearskins and no amount of Zionist hate babble against them can alter those facts.

You seem like a decent enough fellow .. tell me are you familiar with the history of Zionist Israel? .. Are you aware how the State was founded? Therein lies the bloody nub of a great injustice .. until that is rectified I really see no end to it .. and in spite of all of Israels brutality and apartheid in Palestine .. and the monotonous mantra recognise Israel .. I do not think the Palestinians will .. because if there is to be Justice .. there is only one state .. Palestine. And the Jews will have to jostle like everyone else to vote a Government into power.

Oh and BTW .. what do you think is the cause of the hot spot in the Jewish (Israeli)Embassy? and the one in Houston?

Ivor,

Do you remember Angelo Frammartino, a 24 year-old Italian student, who planned to set up summer camp for Palestinians? Those same precious palis he was so concerned about murdered him. A 'brave' Palestinian resistance fighter stabbed him while walking with four friends in the Sultan Suleiman street in the capital, near the Prahim Gate. Talk about biting the hands that feed you.

And yes, I do remember how israel was formed: a UN vote, followed by an armed attack by five countries who refused to accept that vote. The five Arab countries disgracefully lost to the Holoucast survivors, and ever since have not stop whining about it even for one minute, blaming the young state for all their troubles.

Genocide? what genocide? If the Israelis are performing genocide, then how come life expectancy in Gaza is 73 years, higher that that of Egypt, Syria and most African countries?

The yearly death rate in Gaza is 3.8 for every 1000 people. In Qutar the death rate is higher- 4.61; in Mexico- 4.73; in Albania - 5.12; in Turkey 5.96; in Thailand 7.03; in Switerland its 8.48; Japan - 8.95; United Kingdom - 10.18. I could go on, but I think the picture is clear: the death rate in Gaza is one of the LOWEST in the world. How do these data conform with your complaint about 'genocide'? So let me ask again: what genocide?

You can check it up yourself at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_death_rate.

Hey Ivor,

You nailed me. So I'll admit it all. Have no choice now.
I am a part of the Zionist conspiracy. Yes, I confess. We control America, we control the UN as well as China and the EU. We are on our way to get Russia too, just give us a couple of years from now and that's done. Yes, we were responsible for 9/11, but not only that. We are responsible for Lady D's murder, Elvis and the Titanic. Ha! bet you didn't know that!

Of course we orchestrated the Holoucast, wasn't an easy thing to do, but nevetheless we did it so well. Of course if we had any clue at the time that a few suicide bombings would immediately convince the Europeans how oppressed and persecuted we were, we wouldn't have bothered, but who knew.

And here is the great secret no one yet knows: remember the disappearence of the dinosaurs? It was us who did it! Aren't we just cool? Oh, and last but not least - the creation of the world is also a Zionist conspiracy! read the Bible - its all written there. Ha! and to think we have managed for so many years to make you fools believe that this world exist!
