Yet again israel move the goal posts and try everything they can to derail any peace initiative that is put to them. israel is not interested in peace and never has been, they are ethnically cleansing Palestine and without defining their borders how is it possible for anyone to recognise them? It would be better to make israel recognise Palestine first.

Israel simply wants Palestine minus the PalestiniaMar 2nd, 2007 - 15:16:54

Thrilled to see Marcus Hadden's excellent comment... I think that as as time goes by it becomes increasingly obvious to ALL that (racist) Israel never has wanted peace- Israel simply wants all of historic Palestine minus the Palestinians.

And don't think this situation will bet better if we can only calm it down now to a dull roar rather than the loud mess it is right now... the system is rigged to favor increasing Israeli bigotry and cruelty in both war and 'peace' as more Palestinians are pushed into poverty and exile.

Zionists (regardless of religion) have been empowered by political Zionism's economic and social crimes against humanity, specifically racist Israel's refusal to respect the Palestinian refugees right of return as clearly spelled out in 1948 by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as well as by UN Resolution 194 and multiple resolutions through out the years.

Israel's eagerness to demonize and dismiss this basic human right, and to vilify and torture the people of Palestine no matter what they say or don't say, no matter where they are, is proof enough to me that there is something very rotten to the core about political Zionism and the ongoing Hasbara efforts on the part of many idiots and fools who think arming any religion with lethal weaponry is a good idea.

It's quite revealing to me that the ire of those who call themselves `pro-Palestinian'is focused on the one country in the Middle East that has actually ever given the Palestinians some land!

It's also interesting that, unlike every other refugee crisis in history, the peaceful solution to this one is seen as setting up a state next to one of the combatants, Israel and flooding Israel with genocidal `refugees'.

Under circumstances like that, it's obvious that any Arab `recognition' (whatever that means) would be very short-lived, as would the State of Israel. And I'm sure that the Arabs realize it.

We could also look at how Israel's prior real estate deal with the Palestinians `for peace' at Oslo turned out, with the Palestinians taking the land but then not fulfilling a single one of their commitments. if I were the Israelis, I'd be very wary of making further deals with that particular client!

Here's an alternative, and one that makes sense, and I think the Israelis should propose it and the Arabs accept it - if they're really interested in solving this problem once and for all.

First of all, UNRWA should be disbanded and the Palestinians put, like every other refugee group, under the UN High Commission for Refugees. The way things stand now, UNRWA is like a painter with one house to paint who knows he'll be unemployed as soon as the job is finished.

Second, the Israelis should propose a joint commission of Israelis and Arabs to adjudicate the ACTUAL claims for lost property of both the Jewish and Arab refugees of the 1948 conflict. It's seldom mentioned, but there were almost 1 million Jews who were ethnically cleansed from the Arab world after 1948, and unlike the Arabs, they had no choice in the matter (over 100,000 Arabs chose to stay in israel after the Arabs attacked, and became Israeli citizens).

These claims should be limited to actual refugees of the conflict who can prove they lost property.

Second, the Israelis should insist that this 2nd Arab Palestinian state the Arab league wants to establish so badly should consist of an amount of Arab land equivalent to what the Israelis have already given up to the Palestinians.

Of course, the Arabs would not agree to any of these sensible proposals, but at least it would be clear who is actually interested in peace and who isn't.

The key issue in Middle East peace is the inability of the Arabs to live in peace and equality next to the Jews. Solve that little problem, and the rest of the issues fix themselves quite nicely.

Israel isn't racist, there are Israeli arabs. They're surrounded by racists and simply trying to survive by weeding out enemy combatants.

Everyone knows they're the ones behind alot of this terror and 9/11 except our forest gump president who's too busy worrying about his (and scooters) stocks. Take the oil away from these sob's and let them live in the desert isolated from civilization- the whole place is a rats nest that needs serious fumigation. Lets Roll-and get tthis over with-it's really getting boring.. But what do I know?-i'm just a monster-not a critic.
