Al-Qaeda No 2 al-Zawahiri accuses Saudi leadership, Hamas
Mar 11, 2007, 21:03 GMT
Cairo - Ayman al-Zawahiri, the Egyptian-born number two in the al-Qaeda terrorist network, Sunday accused the Saudi leadership of being 'the deputies of the Americans' in the Arab world.
In a video message broadcast late Sunday by al-Jazeera news channel, he also attacked the radical Hamas movement for 'selling out' the Palestinians in order to cling to power.
He hit out at last month's Mecca agreement between Hamas and the rival al-Fatah organisation of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to form a government of national unity. The agreement was reached under the diplomacy of Saudi King Abdullah.
