Syria calls on Fatah, Hamas to stop infighting
May 16, 2007, 19:51 GMT
Damascus - Syria on Wednesday called on Palestinian rivals Hamas and Fatah to 'immediately' stop infighting and resume dialogue as clashes between the groups have left dozens dead.
Syria 'follows with deep concern the news of bloody fighting in the Gaza Strip between Palestinian brothers,' an official source told official news agency SANA.
'Syria calls for an immediate stop of this infighting among brothers' and urged the groups to join together against Israel and in efforts to keep the Palestinian cause as 'central' in Arab public opinion, the source said.
Palestinians have to close their ranks and strengthen their national unity government to 'resist the Israeli occupation that continues to swallow the Palestinian land,' the source said.
At least 17 Palestinians were killed in fighting between thr groups Wednesday and at least 44 people have been killed since Fatah- Hamas clashes erupted Sunday.

'How do they expect to ever assimilate into the civilized world?'
The only way they fit in to civilization is in a zoo.
It's nice that Syria supports the Palestinians. Maybe they should apply the same concept to the Lebanese people, instead of promoting violence between the Pro/Anti Syrian factions with in Lebanon. The use of the Arab-Israeli conflict to promote the legitmacy of authoritarian regimes continues to mask the real issues facing the region.

Apparently, the Pals can't even get along with themselves. How do they expect to ever assimilate into the civilized world?
