Two convicted terrorists escape from Jordanian jail
Jun 20, 2007, 8:19 GMT
Amman - Two inmates, convicted for their roles in terrorist plots, have escaped from Juweida prison, 50 kilometres south of the Jordanian capital Amman, security sources said Wednesday.
The sources identified the fugitives as Maath Braizat, a Jordanian, and Saad Nuaimat, an Iraqi.
Braizat was sentenced to 10 years with hard labour last year after he was found guilty of plotting to attack a centre for the training of Iraqi policemen, the source said.
Nuaimat was jailed for life by the State Security Court last year for his role in a plot to attack the reception lounge at the Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA).
The security authorities were investigating the incident and staging a manhunt to capture the two men, the sources said.
