Israel transfers 100 Palestinians to Egypt
Jun 21, 2007, 0:31 GMT
Jerusalem - Israel began late Wednesday transferring about 100 Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Egypt, the Jerusalem Post reported online.
The Palestinians were being taken on buses from Erez Crossing to Kerem Shalom Crossing and then to Egypt, the newspaper said.
About 30 of the group were women, and 32 would not be permitted to return to Israel because they were believed to have participated in terrorist attacks.
The refugees were being screened by Israeli security forces, who then accompanied them to Egypt.
Palestinians had been waiting for days at the border post at Erez to leave the Gaza Strip after radical Islamist group Hamas took over control of the region.
