Baghdad - A car bomb attack on a mini-bus and taxi meeting point in Baghdad killed at least 30 people and injured 50 others Thursday morning, according to a police source.
The bombe went off in the southern Bayaa district during morning rush-hour when the area was particularly crowded. Bayaa is mostly inhabited by Shiites.
The number of casualties is expected to rise due to the severity of the blast.
Joint Iraqi-US forces have been deployed in the area.
Bayaa district had recurrently been subject to attacks.
Another Baghdad Shiite district, Khadhmiya in the northern part of the capital, was hit by an explosion Wednesday evening which killed 10 and wounded 15, the Voices of Iraq news agency reported.
Also Wednesday a suicide attack on a police station near Jadiriya Bridge in Baghdad killed one and wounded five, police sources said. The bridge was damaged in the blast.
Meanwhile three British soldiers were killed overnight in Basra, southern Iraq, a British military spokesman said Thursday.
The troops were killed and another was wounded when an explosive device detonated next to their vehicle.
The vehicle was part of a supply convoy, the spokesman said.

..as the man said when he ejected from the crashing plane - without a parachute

It would seem like a game of Russian roulette to be out and around in Iraq, much less stay in your home. What a terrible way to live, and it just gets worse. It seems like the entire Middle East is just one big bombed-out mess with no reasonable remedy in sight for any of it.
....no one is under the illusion that more troops will stop this...
im thinking of a number
Predictions are that Gordon Brown will be reducing UK troops in Iraq by 75% within 12 months.
'Predictions are that Gordon Brown will be reducing UK troops in Iraq by 75% within 12 months.'
So because Iraqis are killing Iraqis the British are going to run away, eh?
There is hardly any doubt in the mind of any intelligent person who is fooloowing the Iraqi developments and actions of Occupation forces, that the whole drama is to kill and destroy the shiites, some through disarming, others thru police and military service with no equipmenmt and training.
BOOTOM LINE IS ''GET THE SHIITES KILLED ONE WAY OR ANOTHER''
If the Sunnis and Shiites keep killing each other, won't they finally be extinct? Get the troops out and let them continue!
