EU: Hamas, Hezbollah, People's Mujaheddin remain terrorist groups

Jun 29, 2007, 7:51 GMT

Brussels - The Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, the Lebanon' Hezbollah movement and Iranian People's Mujaheddin remain on the European Union list of terrorist organizations published Friday.

The official list comprises 30 organizations in total. Their assets within EU abilities will be frozen, according to regulations created shortly after the September 2001 attacks on the United States.

The list also includes 35 individuals who are subject to the regulations.

After the list enters into legal force at the weekend, the EU will be able to freeze the assets of terrorist organizations.

The list follows a December 2006 verdict by the European Court of Justice, in which the court had ruled in favour of the Iranian People's Mujaheddin, that had resisted the freezing of its assets.

The court had found that the organization had had no chance to resist its categorization as a terrorist group.

In the decision made public Thursday, the EU Council of Ministers said that they had informed those on the list of their inclusion 'as far as was practically possible' and that 'their objections had been taken into account.'

The Council of Ministers in April formally wrote to some 30 groups, informing them they were considered terrorist organizations.

I keep hearing repeated words 'Terrorists' used against Hamas,Hisbulla, etc, i will agree with anybody who could really explain me in all fairness, Q. Is the house owner who defends his property from robbers, a Terrorist?? Or The robberrs who forcefully enters the property kills occupants, destroys anything comes in its way and occupies whatever is remained?? further more what would you call all those who clearly see the robbers atrocities and still support them, rather than the victims of the house owners??? I hope thare are many wise people out there, who could come up with the answer. Readers please keep the sensible discussion going.

Ben-Gurion said 'why should the Arabs make peace? If I were an Arab leader, I would never make terms with Israel. That is natural: we have taken their country. Sure, God promised it to us, but what does that matter to them? There has been anti-Semitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They only see one thing: we came here and stole their country. Why should they accept that?'
if we wanted peace, we could achieve. all we have done is take!we have destroyed their homes, families and economy! we want it all!
i am ashamed!

Someone's terrorist is someone's freedom fighter. To US, EU and Israel, we Muslims are terrotrists. But to us Muslims in Palestine, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan etc the list is reversed. The western terror is on our mind and it is US, EU and Israel who are terrorist states to us. Bush, Blair, Cheney, Rumsfield are all terrorists to us as they have masterminded genocide in Iraq, Afghanistan and many other Muslim nations. You may say that you dont care what we say then we dont care what you label Muslims as.

I totally agree with the Honest and fair Israeli comment, if there are more people like this gentleman in Israel, there is no doubt the peace could be achieved overnight and there are prospects that Jews could still keep part of Palestine as their peacfull country. Thank you my friend, god bless you.

Turkey seems to think of Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.

There has been no 'genocide' conducted in Iraq by the US or any other western force in Iraq or Afghanistan. Look up the word and try to understand its definition. When you make stupid claims like that it weakens your case. On the other hand, I will agree with you that one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter, but we DO understand that not all Muslims are terrorists. If we thought that we most certainly would be conducting genocide. Genocide is a much simpler mission to carry out than the one we are trying to accomplish.

My friend Harry, i understand your frustration of being very upset about the killings and destruction around the world, i fell the same way but by becoming an un-muslim is not going to change anything, to have any sort of faith is a personal matter not the world matter, in your circumstances now, in my belief you are at lose, not other people, please re-consider your faith before its too late. you will be answerable to Allah when you die for your actions, not other peoples actions. Now as for killings & destructions around, it has nothing to do with Islam, the game is clear that US & the West want to control the whole world by force and degrade Islam, naturaly you will get resistance, who wants be slaves of US in the 21st century? no one, how would you servive? only to resist, if this is the way then there will be killings and destruction, so if the US and the West stop interfering within other countries and do not have un-Islamic policies and leave other nations alone, there would be peace over night.
